the origins
At the heart of Borgo Sant’Angelo is the legacy of Filippo Panseca, our father, who found refuge here in the 1980s. Today, Borgo Sant’Angelo opens its doors to his life’s work, celebrating the vision of a pioneer who used modern technology as a limitless medium for its artistic expression.
In the early 70’s, long before digital art became a movement, Filippo Panseca started using technologies like computer (that was at the time unaccessible to people and exclusive) for its Art. Among the several phases of his career, he created biodegradable giant spheres to stand as striking symbols of both technological progress and ecological awareness, urging reflection on pollution and sustainability long before these issues became global concerns. An artist, a humanist, a inventor, a writer, a father, and a friend to many, Filippo Panseca was always ahead of his time and deeply engaged in the contemporary art scene throughout his life, pushing the boundaries of creativity and imagination.
our Project
Borgo Sant’Angelo is an evolving project of preservation and transformation. Our approach to renovation is meticulous, revealing the true essence of the architecture while introducing a refined contemporary sensibility. Like our first project, Parco dei Sesi in Pantelleria, Borgo sant’Angelo is a journey where hospitality meets Art, history at the service of a unique lifestyle’s experience.
Today, it is our mission to ensure that the work of Filippo Panseca remains accessible and continues to inspire future generations. 2000 mq of dependance will be restored to become the home to his Archives and will be open to the public. A space dedicated to preserving and celebrating his artistic legacy while fostering dialogue between history and creativity.
Beyond conservation, we believe in creation. Borgo Sant’Angelo will also host a program of artist residencies, inviting contemporary artists to live and work within its walls. By sharing this space with creative minds, we aim to foster collaboration and ensure that artistic evolution remains central to our identity.
Note from the Owners: Margot & Massimiliano
Borgo Sant’Angelo is not just a restoration, not just a home or not just a museum—it is all of these things together. A place where history, art, and life converge, where every guest becomes part of its continuing story. Just as Parco dei Sesi has not been built in one day, this new project will be an unfolding journey led by passion and certainly the same attention to every detail.
We love opening doors of our homes to like-minded souls. We thrive for the human exchange that the experience of hospitality provides. Borgo Sant’Angelo is a place to connect, to be inspired, and to celebrate the beauty of life, Art, history, design and beauty.
